Week At A Glance – 1/30

From Mr DeJoy:

Hello Mansfield Band Families,

Happy (almost) February! This weekend our color guard groups had their first show and put on some spectacular performances. From here until April you can catch the color guard groups competing every Saturday evening at schools in the area. The percussion joins them for their first show February 11th. Below is the week at a glance and some updates.

Lost Jacket
Someone left a jacket at the fall banquet that has yet to be claimed. Please let me know if it is yours. I will be donating it at the end of the week if left unclaimed.

Dayton Percussion Updates
We are in need of one more chaperone for the Dayton trip. Preferably a female chaperone. As a reminder chaperones do not have to pay for hotel or travel; only their own meals and their ticket for WGI World Class finals. If you are interested in chaperoning please reach out and let me know.

Truck Driver
We are looking for a second truck driver for our winter percussion season. We especially need this person to attend the Dayton trip and preferably the trip to Trumbull, CT. If you are interested in being the second truck driver please reach out to me.

Winter Percussion Volunteers
We are going to need volunteers for the winter percussion shows much like we do for the fall marching band shows. You will be seeing sign ups weekly. If you are interested in volunteering at any time during the season we ask that you come to the rehearsal on Thursday, February 9th. At this rehearsal we will go through the process of getting on and off the floor which is much more precise and quick than the fall marching band.

Hilliards Chocolate
We still have a few extra boxes of Hilliard’s chocolate. If you would like to sell more chocolate please contact Jenn Walsh at President.

Comedic Hypnotist
See the attached flyer regarding a MHS performing arts fundraiser that will benefit the choir, orchestra, and theatre students going to New York in April. Come out and support our other programs! If you can’t make it to the show, get some Bar Pizza beforehand. Proceeds go to the performing arts department.

MICCA
The MHS concert band will be participating in the MICCA concert festival on Friday, March 31st at 3:30pm in Foxboro, MA. Students will miss the last class of the day and travel to Foxboro high school to play three concert band pieces for a panel of adjudicators. One of the adjudicators will then run a brief clinic with the band and we will then receive a medal rating for our performance.

If we do well enough in Foxboro we will be invited to play at Mechanics Hall in Worcester at the MICCA festival of gold.

Healthy Decision Making Session
See the attached flyer regarding a session at MHS on healthy decision making.

Have a great week!
