Week at a Glance – 1/23

From Mr DeJoy:

Hello Mansfield Band Families,

I hope the snow didn’t make anyone’s commute too difficult today. The winter season is kicking up this week for both weather and our extracurriculars! Below are some updates and the Week at a Glance is attached.

Winter Guard Home Preview
Our two winter guards have their first competition this weekend so they are hosting a home preview show this Friday at 8pm in the QMS gym. I invite all of you to come and see all the great work they have put in over the last few months and send them off to their first show with a bunch of Mansfield spirit!

Winter Guard Shows
I will send out a broad overview of the schedule for winter guard shows. Exact schedules are posted by Michael on Google Classroom.

Prop Building
Pretty much every percussion rehearsal for the next two weeks we will have some parents building props at MHS. If you want to volunteer to help stop on by. We will let you know when they are finished.

Lost Jacket
Someone left a jacket at the banquet that has yet to be claimed. Please let me know if it is yours.

Uniform Collection
Tuesday, January 24th @ 5:30pm will be the next drop off date for uniforms.

Drop off will be at the high school via the Band Room Door. We ask any color guard, senior or junior that hasn’t already returned it as well as sophomores to bring them on the 24th. Uniforms should be washed in cold water, inside out and hung to dry.

SENIORS: Garment bag, dinkles, gloves, and shoe bag are yours to keep. Please ONLY return your full uniform, including shako in its box.

JUNIORS & SOPHOMORES: Please return your full uniform, IN THE GARMENT BAG, and your shako in its box. Please keep your dinkles, gloves, and shoe bag at home.

COLOR GUARD: This is for your FALL costume only – not winter. If you have prior years costumes from the FALL season we ask that you please bring those as well.

MICCA
The MHS concert band will be participating in the MICCA concert festival on Friday, March 31st at 3:30pm in Foxboro, MA. Students will miss the last class of the day and travel to Foxboro high school to play three concert band pieces for a panel of adjudicators. One of the adjudicators will then run a brief clinic with the band and we will then receive a medal rating for our performance.

If we do well enough in Foxboro we will be invited to play at Mechanics Hall in Worcester at the MICCA festival of gold.

Best,
Justin DeJoy
