Week at a Glance and Updates

From Mr DeJoy (and with apologies for the late posting to the website):

Hello Mansfield Band Families,

Attached is the week at a glance and below are some important updates.

Emails
The last few emails I’ve sent out have been missed by some and not by others. From now on marching band related emails will be sent out via our google classroom. If you are not listed on the google classroom as a guardian you will not get the emails. If you would like to be added to the classroom please let me know.

Any emails pertaining to the whole Mansfield Bands program will be sent out through the school email system. If you do not get these emails you will have to contact the school to get your email added to your student’s account.

Volunteers
We are looking for volunteers to help at our next competition. Luckily this one is just down the street! If you would like to sign up to help out at our show in Easton on Saturday sign up here.

Metlife
Last week a packet was sent home with students regarding our trip to NJ/NY for our final competition of the season; USBands finals at Metlife stadium. I have attached the information I sent home as well as the permission slip (two sides) and a medical form that must be filled out. The permission slip and medical form are due back to me by the end of this week.

8th graders are unfortunately unable to attend this trip. Their season will end at NESBA finals. If you have questions about this please feel free to contact me.

All the details for the trip are in the packet. I would like to highlight the financials. The trip will cost a total of $380 per student which will be invoiced to you through the band parents via email in two installments. If you foresee any financial difficulties please reach out to me or the music parents.

We are looking for a few more chaperones for the metlife trip. Chaperones will be expected to travel with the students and stay in the same hotel as the students. You do not have to pay anything to chaperone. If you are interested please let me know.

Finally, I and the music parents will be hosting a meeting regarding the Metlife trip this Thursday, October 6 at 6pm in the MHS auditorium. This is not a mandatory meeting. Following the Metlife meeting, the music parents will be holding their monthly general meeting.

Districts and SEMSBA
If your student is interested in auditioning for SEMSBA or Southeastern Districts please have them let me know as soon as possible. If you have never heard these terms, these are ensembles made up of students from the area that students must audition to be a part of. More information is found here and here. All are welcome and encouraged to attend!
