MONTHLY UPDATE

10/4/22

What We’ve Accomplished:

Supported the Mansfield Hornets in the band’s 1st football game of the season with half time show
Competed in our 1st competition – won a Silver Medal with a score of 75.6 and best color guard
Gifted all marching band families Moonlight buttons to wear during competition
Performed in the Big E parade – thank you to all who took time out of their schedule to volunteer & chaperone.
Thanks to the funds from Gillette – we were able to order and have since received a new floor (prop for MB show), rack, and vibe. These will all help make our show a continued success.

What We Have Coming Up:

MBPA Meeting will be held on Thursday, 10/6 @ 6:00 in the auditorium. The beginning part of this meeting will focus on all you need to know about the Met Life trip.
Easton/Oliver Ames Competition, Saturday 10/8
- 10:00am-2:30pm – Rehearsal on FH Field
- 2:30pm – Eat, Pack, Load, Dress in halves
- 4:30pm – Depart for Easton (100 Lothrop Street, N Easton)
- 4:50pm – Estimated Arrival
- 5:50pm – Warm Up
- 6:35pm – Performance Time
- 8:05pm – Awards
- 9:00pm – Estimated Return Time to MHS
Melrose Competition, Saturday 10/15 – Details to follow
Football game, Friday, 10/21 at Alumni Field behind the High School. More information will come from Mr. DeJoy regarding arrival time.

CONTACT: Message from Mr. DeJoy: From now on marching band related emails will be sent out via our google classroom. If you are not listed on the google classroom as a guardian you will not get the emails. If you would like to be added to the classroom please let me know. Any emails pertaining to the whole Mansfield Bands program will be sent out through the school email system. If you do not get these emails you will have to contact the school to get your email added to your student’s account.

The MBPA wants to keep you informed as well. In order for us to be able to contact you via email, you must sign up HERE. Please forward this email to all your friends who have students in the band. Although Mr. DeJoy can message everyone, we need folks to specifically sign up through the MBPA to get notifications from the MBPA.

COMPETITIONS: Next competition will be at Oliver Ames in Easton. We will need people to help move the instruments and prop on and off the field. Sign Up Here Have no fear…. you will be instructed on your job once we meet up at the competition site. REMEMBER: you cannot volunteer without a CORI on file. If you have not already done so, please complete the CORI form and return to Mr. DeJoy, directly to Central Office in Town Hall, or you can drop off at QMS to the attention of Frani Spivak. The CORI form can be found HERE. These kids have all worked so hard and we can’t do this without your help!

APPAREL: We will be launching a Marching Band Spirit apparel store soon. Keep your eyes peeled for the email with the link!! Parade Polo shirts will also be coming soon.

GILLETTE: THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH TO THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE VOLUNTEERED TO DATE! As mentioned above – thanks to the fundraising efforts of Gillette we were able to purchase the prop floor, a new instrument rack and a new vibe. If you have never done Gillette before, have no fear, we will Tom Winrow or <a href="mailto:gillette2.

Currently we NEED help for these upcoming events. Positions are still open and we need volunteers ASAP! All of these events will be double credits. REMEMBER – credits can be used to help pay for Met Life

Sunday 11/6 Pats vs Colts (remember this is Met Life weekend) for those not going, perhaps you can step up and volunteer so that we do not risk losing this event by having no volunteers which puts our contract at risk.
