Week at a Glance – 4/24

From Mr DeJoy:

Good Morning All,

I hope you had a restful break and are ready for the last leg of the school year! I can not believe we only have two months left and our seniors only have one! Below is the week at a glance and some updates.

Winter Banquet
As a reminder the winter banquet (guard and percussion) is this Sunday at 5pm at the Norton Country Club. RSVPs were due last week.

MBPA Board Positions
If you are interested in serving on the MBPA board next year, please email Jenn Walsh – president.

Spring Concert and Other Dates
Please remember to check out the band calendar for the rest of the year. We have some important upcoming events that are mandatory for ALL band students such as the spring concert dress rehearsal, the spring concert, and graduation. We also have the memorial day parade next month. More info on all of these events as well as Spring training as we get a little closer.

Gillette
A note from our Band Parents regarding our extremely important Gillette fundraisers:

Hello fellow MBPA students and parents:

It’s that time of year again, when the MBPA is looking for volunteers to staff a concession stand for its summer season of concerts, events and Revolution soccer games at Gillette Stadium.

If you’ve never volunteered before, we have lots of experienced volunteers who can partner with you, help you navigate the parking, and show you how it all works. It’s a great way to meet your fellow band parents and raise money for your children.

Here’s the Sign Up Genius link for the 2023 season:

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0a4caaac28a3f94-20231#/

Each volunteer shift earns a $25 student credit for the student of your choice.

The MBPA is still looking for adult volunteers (over 18 years old) for the Monster Jam from 2 p.m.-10:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, and for Bridgewater State graduation from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 13.

The Monster Jam event is a double credit event, which means each shift is worth a $50 student credit!!

A few notes:

There are also available volunteer slots for several concerts this summer, including Ed Sheeran, Luke Combs, Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel/Stevie Nicks!

Gillette is strictly enforcing a two-student (ages 16-17) limit for events this season. Those slots are clearly marked in Sign Up Genius.

Also: For those of you who have volunteered before, BBQ 140 has been converted into a women’s restroom (!!!) by Gillette as part of the renovations around the former lighthouse.

So far, the MBPA has been assigned to either Stadium Pizza or BBQ 112 this season.

If you have any questions, please reply to this email, or call/text Christine Bellavance or Tom Winrow.

Hope to see you there!
