Hi Band Families,
This message is from the board of the MBPA. We miss you all!! Our kids miss all of their teachers, routines and most importantly their friends! We (virtually) met today to try and tie up some loose ends as we haven’t had the chance to have our monthly MBPA meeting and unfortunately there is no end in sight.
Home Show wrap up:
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!! You all made Home Show a complete success with all of your donations, hard work and positive attitudes. Things have been challenging but we are so grateful that we were able to hold our Home Show before the chaos of COVID-19. We have cleared between $7,000-$7,200 which is great considering last minute cancellations and the snow and ice that morning. Any of your food/drink donations that were not sold at home show were slated to be used for the color guard and percussion trips to Dayton. As those are not happening and many of the items will expire this summer we decided it would be best to donate all of the leftovers. Our local food pantry is desperate for donations and we have plenty of snacks, candy, Gatorade and water to share. The drinks will be used for both the food pantry and our local first responders. We have already dropped off the candy, they were so happy to be able to put a special treat in for kids, they never get to have candy in their pick-ups! It is only through the tremendous support of our band family that this is possible, so, again, thank you all!
Remember all of those businesses that supported us to make Home Show possible? They need us now, please remember to support them in whatever way you can. We all need to support each other to make it through these endless days.
Board elections are supposed to be held at the May MBPA meeting. As the meetings are on hold indefinitely we will forgo them this year. The current board will carry over until next May to manage the financial issues this shut down has thrown at us.
For parents of seniors, please be on the lookout for an email soon with updates to the MBPA scholarships. For the seniors and the parents of seniors we share in the disappointment of this spring. So much disappointment for scheduled events but well worth it to keep us all safe and healthy.
Obviously we are watching Gillette very closely, there is a good chance we will be missing more than just the Revs games. We will have to wait and see what the next few months bring.
Our scheduled spring fundraiser, Casino Night, is (obviously) postponed. We will figure out a time for it to be scheduled hopefully in the fall. Remember you are all part of the MBPA family and we are here to support you. If you need anything at all for your family please don’t hesitate to reach out. We have a vast network of families who would all be more than willing to help.
Finally, for any remaining questions regarding student accounts and payment returns, please reach out to Michelle Fine at treasurer. Please note the ‘.org’ email address; emails erroneously sent to ‘.com’ won’t reach their intended destination.
Please stay safe, practice social distancing and be well.
