Band Newsletter 11/25/19

From Mr McGuire:

Good Morning,

Attached below, you will find my weekly band newsletter!

Also, a few things regarding our upcoming events –

Thanksgiving Day –
I have attached a permission slip to this email. I apologize for getting this out so late, but to be honest – Thanksgiving sort of snuck up on me! I feel badly that I am giving you such short notice on getting this signed, but I need it back as soon as possible. I would prefer it back tomorrow, but I will accept it on Thursday morning. If a student does not have it signed then I cannot let them come with the band to perform at Thanksgiving. Again, I apologize for the short notice and thank you in advance for you patience. I handed out paper copies of this slip in class today.

If there are any parents (who have active CORI’s on file) who are willing to ride the bus to and from the Thanksgiving day game on Thursday, I could use 2 – 3 people. Just send me an email and I’ll put you on the list!

Here is the day on Thursday –
8am – Report to MHS
9am – Depart for Ahern Middle School
9:30am – Arrive/Unload
10am – Kickoff
12:30pm – Depart for MHS
1pm – Arrive/Unload
2pm – Dismiss

Holiday Parade
The holiday parade will be held on Sunday December 1st. Report time is 2:30pm at 214 Rumford Ave. We will march down Main St. (step off is 3pm) and arrive at the South Common where students will be dismissed. The parade should last no more than a half hour. I will open the school from 2pm – 2:15pm for students to get whatever they need for the parade. Students should wear their uniforms and may wear a school appropriate winter/holiday hat.

MIAA Championship Game
I have not yet sent out the permission sip for the MIAA game because I am told that there is an additional waiver that Gillete requires so I am waiting on that to do all of it at once. We are participating in the MIAA championship game on Friday December 6th. The game starts at 7:30pm. Departure for Gillette TBD. We will NOT perform the halftime show and will not bring a truck – we will fit whatever we can in the bus.

More information in the newsletter. I know it’s a busy time of year for everyone so thank you for hanging in there with me as we wrap up the busy season for band!

All the best,

Matt
