From Mr Ketterer:
Good Afternoon!
This week has been a productive week! We were able to learn the drill for movement 3 of our marching band field show and we were able to start putting some of the music to it, as well as reinforce and improve our new field positions for movement 1 and 2. The students and I are very excited for the opportunity to perform a portion of our field show and new pep band music at our first home football game today, September 24. The game starts at 7, call time for all students is 6pm in full uniform. Many of the students picked up their uniform last night after marching band rehearsal, if they are in pep band only they can get them when they arrive at school for 6.
Our FIRST marching band competition is Saturday October 2nd in North Andover. We will need parent volunteers to help move pit equipment and help us get on and off the field. A sign up genius will be sent out in the next few days.
If students are interested in auditioning for districts please have them come see me. I would like to make sure that they have the correct solo to work on, and that I can get them registered. Just a friendly reminder, if you plan on volunteering for competitions or school events you must have a CORI completed. Please try to get this done as soon as you can. That way you are covered for the entire school year and can volunteer and help.
Also, there was some confusion last week about the mandatory marching band parent meeting next Wednesday 9/29 at 6:30pm in the high school auditorium. This meeting is just for parents of the marching band, this includes: battery, pit, winds, and color guard. This meeting is just to go over the expectations for the marching band as we start to move into the competition month of October.
The Mansfield Band Parents need TWO more volunteers (adults or students aged 16-17) for this Sunday’s (9/26) Patriots vs. New Orleans Saints game at Gillette Stadium. Gate call is 8:30 a.m., done by 5 p.m. This is a DOUBLE CREDIT EVENT, meaning your student will earn $50 in credits for each shift. Those credits can be applied to the cost of shoes, compression shirts, travel expenses and even band jackets! We will be in BBQ 140, our booth for the Patriots season. If you need to come later or leave early, please contact Aaron or Christine to make arrangements. We are flexible! Please consider volunteering! Thank You,
