Thank you again to the wonderful parents who gave up their time to help move equipment on Friday night at the football game and on Saturday at the competition. Your help makes a huge difference! Also, thank you to the parents, friends, and family who came to support the students by cheering them on in the stands!
This weekend the marching band has a competition on Saturday in Reading, and we have a parade (Halloween parade). This complicates the day a little bit.
Please be aware – there will be no transportation to and from the halloween parade. In the past, students have driven themselves, carpooled, carpooled with other parents, and walked if necessary. I prefer to avoid having students walk to and from the parade. I ask that if your child can’t drive, that you make plans for them to get to and from the parade. I know it’s an inconvenience, but it’s a unique situation for us and would be challenging to provide a bus given the cost and proximity to the school. If you cannot get transportation for your child to and from the parade, please reach out to me by Wednesday and I will help to coordinate a ride for you.
The schedule for the day is attached, but here is a more detailed schedule of that afternoon.
12:30pm – Eat/pack/load/Change into costume – students will begin to prepare their equipment for truck loading for the competition. The front ensemble will stay behind with a staff member to load the truck while the rest of the band marches in the parade. The students will change into costume around 1pm. This is all a very quick turnaround but manageable.
1:15pm – Depart for South Common for Parade – I will dismiss the students at 1:15pm to head to south common. if you are picking up your child and driving them, then I suggest. coming at this time to get them.
1:30pm – Arrive at South Common for parade – we will meet at the south common, warm up, and line up for the parade.
2:00pm – Parade steps off
2:30pm – Return to school to change and eat/finish packing – Once we finish the parade, we will depart for MHS to finish packing, loading, and change out of costumes and into the half uniform for the performance.
