GILLETTE HELP NEEDED!!
I know these calls for help are becoming white noise in everyone’s life – but the reality is we do NOT run this fundraiser because Mr. DeJoy or the MBPA want to go to MetLife, or compete, or march in parades with a new parade banner BUT because we want to give the children these experience and it’s what THEY want and look forward to. If Gillette goes away (AND IT HAS IN THE PAST) either the experiences go away or the checks you write become a lot larger.
PLEASE consider signing up for 2-3 events.
We currently need the following:
8/2 – Metallica; we need 6 people
8/8 – Pats vs Carolina; we need 10 people
8/15 – Pats vs Eagles; we need 13 people
We also need more ServSafe volunteers and folks willing to step into a stand or kitchen manager role. Both are very easily learned, just takes one event to work with someone to show you the ropes and you’re good to go.
AS A REMINDER
What does volunteering at Gillette do for you? Well in addition to giving you $25/event that you work which you can then use to pay for uniform accessories, trips, and banquet tickets for your student, it helps reduce what you would need to pay for the program as a whole. Here are some examples:
- At the end of band camp, the MBPA provided a dinner for students and families which cost us $789. The funds raised from the Revs v. Columbus game was a profit of $886 and paid for that dinner.
- The truck rental & gas for the marching band season costs the MBPA $2,684. Funds from the Beyonce concert raised us $2,546.
- The MBPA was able to contribute $7,500 to the MetLife Trip, reducing the cost per student. These funds were achieved by staffing the Patriots Ticket Holder Event, the Chargers game, the Army/Navy game, and the Jets game which was a total of $7,853
- The truck rental and gas for the color guard winter season costs a total of $2,023. Working the Taylor Swift concert brought in $2,163.
- Props for the 2024 Season costs a total of $1,366. Profit from the Revs v. Montreal game was $1,537.
- Winter percussion truck rental and gas cost $2,454. We raised $2,447 working just one of the Ed Sheeran concerts.
- Working both Bruce Springsteen concerts raised us $3,634 which allowed us to purchase the winter floors which cost $3,994.
So that is $21,006 raised working 11 events. That’s $21,006 that we didn’t have to put onto our families to pay.
