MAY 2024 UPDATES

QMS Upcoming Events:

QMS Krispy Kreme Fundraiser – Orders have been submitted. Please plan to pick up your orders on Thursday, May 23rd between 4:00 & 6:00 at the QMS bus loop. It would be preferred for you to pick up your entire order and distribute rather than have everyone who ordered come.
May 30th – Band/Orchestra concert @ QMS beginning at 6:30pm
June 4th – Chorus/Jazz Band concert @ QMS beginning @ 6:30pm
June 7th – Great East @ QMS, Mansfield

MHS Upcoming Events:

May 16th is our Spring Concert beginning @ 6:30pm in the MHS Auditorium
May 27th – Memorial Day Parade report time is 9:30am on North Common. Students should wear their band polo, black pants, and marching shoes.
- Most (not all) marching shoes are in their uniform bags which are at the school. Please make sure they leave the uniform bags at the school. We are in the process of getting them all washed. Seniors can bring their garment bag & shoes home as their uniforms have been put back into circulation already.
June 2nd – Graduation; call time is 11:00am at Xfinity Center
June 12th will be our year-end banquet for ALL band & color guard. BANQUET FORM must be filled out by May 26th.
- Please note that your account does need to be in good standing to attend the banquet. If you are unsure or have questions, please feel free to email treasurer@mansfieldbandparents.org.
- RSVP & Payment are REQUIRED to attend the banquet. We cannot accept payment at the door given the expected number of attendees. If you do not RSVP via the google form you will not be in the count.

General Updates:

Our slate for next year was presented at the May meeting:
- Frani Spivak – President (1 year term)
- Sara Tomase – Vice President (1 year term)
- Betsy Roche – Secretary (1 year term)
- Deb Stratton – Treasurer (2 year term)
Please join us at our June meeting to vote in next year’s board.

Gillette:

Our new season with Gillette has begun. We cannot stress enough the importance of this fundraiser. Please take a look at this Gillette Info Sheet which will help outline just how the money raised from Gillette helps. If our overall profit from Gillette continues to decrease one of two things will happen – the money to pay for competitions, truck rentals, uniforms, trips, meals, etc. will be placed back onto the families OR those things will simply no longer happen.
It only takes each family to sign up for 2 or 3 events to help share the work so the same families aren’t doing it over and over.
We need more ServSafe volunteers. It’s a day long course with a test at the end that teaches you kitchen/food safety. When you pass your certification it is good for 5 years. Right now we only have a handful of servsafe people and really could use some more.
Consider becoming a stand manager so that Guy & Katherine don’t have to bear the burden alone. If you are interested, please reach out to gillette2@mansfieldbandparents.org and they can give you the run down of responsibility.

Next MBPA Parent Meeting is on Thursday, June 6th @ 5:30pm in the Chorus Room. Change in time is to accommodate other events taking place at the HS that families may need to attend.
