MONTHLY UPDATE

10/4/2023

QMS BAND UPDATES:

  • Mansfield Band Parent Association Meeting – October 5 @ 6:00pm, MHS room 135 – All are welcome to attend this band parent meeting. At these meetings, MBPA discuss ways to help support the QMS and MHS programs through fundraisers, community events, and volunteer opportunities. MBPA is always looking for feedback from QMS families.
  • MHS Football Game, October, 13 @ 7:00pm- Students will be performing pep band tunes along side the MHS band at a Friday night football game. Students will meet at MHS before the game and will sit in the stands with the MHS band students for the 1st, 2nd, and 4th quarters of the game. They will watch the band perform at halftime and then have free time during the 3rd quarter. Families are welcome to come and watch! Football games do require tickets to be purchased (for families, not for band students). Tickets are $7 for adults and can be purchased when entering Alumni Field.
  • Mansfield Halloween Concert, October 24 – The QMS Symphony Orchestra (band and orchestra combined) will be performing at the Mansfield Halloween Concert. This is a community event that invites Mansfield children into MHS for some fun trick or treating and a concert. We will be perform one song during the concert portion of the evening.
  • Mansfield Halloween Parade – Saturday, October 28 – Students will march with the MHS band down Main Street to help celebrate Halloween! Costumes can be worn and families are welcome to line the streets to show support! The parade will kick off at South Common and loop back down Main Street and past Fulton Pond. Exact times will be sent out soon.
  • QMS Holiday ConcertDecember 21 @ 6:30pm – This will be our first formal concert of the year. Students will need to wear concert black. All families and friends are encouraged to attend! There is no charge for admission.

MHS BAND UPDATES:

COMPETITIONS: Next Competition- USBands King Phillip
Our next marching band competition is at King Philip High School this weekend. More info about the show found here. We need parent volunteers to help us move equipment onto the field. IF YOU ARE ABLE TO HELP PLEASE FILL OUT THIS FORM. If you help us move on to the field you get into the show for free!

Friday-Saturday, November 3-4th NESBA Finals MetLife

GILLETTE: We continue to need help as the Patriot’s season gets underway. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH TO THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE VOLUNTEERED TO DATE! If you have never done Gillette before, have no fear, we will walk you through it step by step and you won’t have to deal with any traffic!!!

This is the most substantial way MBPA raises funds for our programs. Please consider helping out if you can!

***There is a Serv Safe training available through Gillette on 10/14. Please click on the sign up above to register for the training. If you are interested, you MUST sign up by Friday, 10/6 so you have sufficient time to study!***

UPCOMING MEETINGS: MetLife and MBPA Meeting

There will be a parent meeting regarding MetLife on Thursday, October 5 at 6pm in the MHS auditorium. Following the meeting will be the regular monthly MBPA Meeting.

MBPA FUNDRAISING:

CALENDAR FUNDRAISER: We will once again be selling our calendar raffle boards. Calendars will be $10 per calendar with a prize awarded each day for the month of November. Calendars will be distributed to students on Thursday, October 12 to be sold through October 26th. All slips and money (cash or check- checks made payable to MBPA) must be returned to MBPA by October 26th.

***NEW THIS YEAR- Students will receive $5.00 per calendar sale into their student accounts to help defer upcoming costs, the remaining $5.00 will go towards the MBPA account.***

DISNEY FUNDRAISING:

DINE IN OR TAKE OUT- JAKE n JOES FUNDRAISER THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12th: On Thursday, October 12th eat-in or take-out lunch or dinner and a percentage of the total check will go towards the 2023 Disney Trip! The MBPA will be hosting a “Meet and Greet” from 6:15-8:30 the evening of October 12th in a designated area of the restaurant, so come join us and meet some fellow Marching Band/Orchestra/Performing Arts parents! NO RSVP necessary, just come and join us while supporting our upcoming trip. Spread the word- have colleagues order take-out for lunch, or pick up something on their way home from work so they don’t have to cook! The more people we get to say “fundraiser” when they go to pay their bill, or choose “fundraiser” as an option for all on-line take-out orders, the more that comes back to us. Please see the flyer below for additional details. ***Be sure to spread on your personal social media accounts, too! You don’t have to be a part of the Mansfield Band, Color Guard, Percussion, Concert or Drama programs to participate!***

PIE FUNDRAISER: We are starting our first fundraiser for Disney selling pies. Each pie is $22. Students have paper order forms (Or will be receiving them shortly). We will be accepting cash or a check made out to Mansfield High School. Orders are due by October 17th. If your student wants to sell pies but isn’t going to Disney they can sell pies and choose a student to sponsor!

Please forward this email to all your friends who have students in the band. Although Mr. DeJoy can message everyone, we need folks to specifically sign up through the MBPA to get notifications from the MBPA.
