A special welcome message from mbpa President Laura Dunn:
Hello and welcome to the Mansfield Band Parents Association website. I have an important message for all our band parents:
Your kids need our help to keep music going in our schools, and likewise, we need your help to do the same!
Like any support organization, our success is entirely dependent on the participation and contributions of our members. And as with public schools everywhere, our music programs are at risk of being underfunded or even going unfunded as the town struggles to make budgetary ends meet during difficult economic times. Thankfully, the Mansfield community has rallied around our music programs and our Band Parents organization has seen heroic support from a core group of longtime members as well as from new band parents just joining the fray as their kids get involved in school music programs. To all I say Thank you!
We are excited about the coming 2013-2014 school year and have many events lined up or in the planning stages that will give us critical fund-raising opportunities to support our school music programs.
What we need more than anything, is for all band parents to step up and help out in any way they can! We don’t need you to make this a lifelong quest (although we won’t turn you away if you do:). We understand that you have work and family life on your plate too… that’s why even the smallest effort or contribution is welcomed and appreciated.
Whether it’s volunteering to staff our concession booth for Patriots games and other events at Gillette Stadium, helping out with fundraisers like our annual yard sale & car wash, offering to drive or chaperone band trips and events, or even just bookmarking this website and stopping by periodically to learn how you can help out. Everyone is familiar with the phrase “many hands make light work,” and it is our goal to live by that maxim, encouraging every band parent to join us and participate in this process in any way you can so you won’t have to do too much, but your efforts combined with the efforts of many others will bring us all success without unnecessary hardship!
Thank you for visiting our website, feel free to browse around and see what’s happening, and please, bookmark and check back regularly to learn what you can do to help keep our music programs a thriving and vibrant part of our kids’ education!
Laura
P.S. Come join me and your fellow band parents for our regular monthly meeting, usually held on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm in the High School teacher’s lounge (across the hall from the auditorium doors). Join our email list to receive meeting reminders.
Are you a band parent?
If you have a student participating in any of the Jordan/Jackson, Qualters, or Mansfield High School band programs, including concert band, jazz band, marching band, color guard/winter guard or percussion ensemble, then welcome! You are indeed a member of The Mansfield Band Parent’s Association - it’s really that simple!
Want to know what’s happening and when? Tell us a little about yourself and your student and we’ll let you know about events and schedules including concert dates! Click here to join our email list.
New to the website? Probably the most important page for you to visit and bookmark is our online calendar which contains dates, times, and links to details for events, trips, and performances for all band and color guard groups as well as band parent meetings
